We got the chickens!
We only got four because we decided that was more manageable for us. We have 2 barred rocks and 2 Rhode Island Reds. Their names are Millicent, Dani, Rosie, and Penelope. I really like having them, which I wasn't expecting. They aren't needy like dogs. They don't crap in the laundry room floor like cats. They just hang out in their run and coop. We haven't let them free range, yet, b/c we are getting them used to us and trying to get the dogs used to them. I'll have to post a picture when I get back on my computer (at the lake).

School is Back in Session
I'm so tired. Like can't move or think tired. Welcome back, students!
I'm teaching 3 preps this year, which has my head spinning. Seriously! What was my admin thinking with that?

Cheap furloughed-teachers vacation
Stacy and I are both teachers and have been furloughed multiple days over the last 2 years. Since money is tight, we are doing a lake vacation at his parent's lakehouse. The kids have been having a great time. Porter learned to kneeboard, Nolan has been playing hard in the water, and Julianna has been relaxing in her baby float.
The chicken plans are coming along. We have found someone who sells the breeds we want, and we have mapped out how we are going to convert the doghouse into a coop. We should have it finished by Sunday, and we can pick up our pullets next week. We are getting 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Barred Rock, and 2 Buff Orpintons. Should be interesting!

We're "hatching" a new project!
CHICKENS!
We've decided to try our hand at raising hens. Stacy is recycling the dog house into a coop and run, and I'm researching hens. Team effort!

Hmmmm, can I revive this thing?
It seems I took a blogging hiatus for, oh, 3.5 years. Let's see if I can remedy that. I last posted in 2007 with my son Porter. Here we are today
Yep, that's 2 more kids. :) Nolan was born in September 2008 and Julianna was born in November 2010. Guess, I should let my RE know that things worked out afterall.
Life is good. Life is busy, but life is good.
